SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Production Lead is responsible for leading the production team to ensure that production goals are met and quality standards are upheld.  They lead daily production activities to support the company’s objectives. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in food manufacturing
  • Ability to lead others
  • Ability to set an example of a strong work ethic by showing up to work on time, being passionate about what you do, and being ready to do it until the job is done
  • Work well with others
  • Willingness to learn new skills and technologies
  • Ability to read and write 
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish preferred, but not required

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • The employee must frequently be able to sit or stand for long periods.
  • The employee must be able to drive for short periods.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to hear and speak in a manner that is understood by most persons.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Employee must be free from communicable diseases.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Production Lead will ensure the smooth operation of the products and people including, but not limited to:

  • Performing all tasks in accordance with Wald Family Foods’ policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Ensuring that production tasks are performed in a safe, efficient, and productive manner.
  • Performing all tasks in accordance with the requirements of the processes and procedures under your supervision.
  • Conducting on-the-job training for all production employees as needed.
  • Immediately providing employees who commit company policy infractions with additional training to ensure policy and food safety procedures are being met.
  • Reporting all infractions and actions taken to the Production Supervisor for documentation as well as any follow-up required.
  • Obtaining a thorough working knowledge of company policy and procedures, SQF Code, and regulations applicable to food manufacturing.
  • Interacting and working closely with the quality department
  • Determining and implementing improvements to the production process with guidance from Production Supervisor.
  • Monitoring and reducing waste of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Consistently following health and safety standards and compliance.
  • Conducting self in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.
  • Completing/reviewing/filing company paperwork on a daily basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position leads all employees of the department.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The plant operates in a cold environment of 50 degrees Fahrenheit or below. Production Leads will be in an environment that is cold, wet, dry, and at times foggy. Personnel are encouraged to wear warm clothing underneath the Wald Family Foods provided gear.

No travel is expected for this position.
