JOB TITLE: Quality Assurance Technician
DEPARTMENT: Quality Assurance / Quality Control 
REPORTS TO: Quality Assurance Manager
LOCATION: 13335 C Street, Omaha, NE 68144

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Quality Assurance Technician to join our team. The QA Technician plays a critical role in ensuring that all products meet or exceed company, customer, industry, and regulatory quality and safety standards. This position involves performing inspections, conducting tests, documenting results, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maintain high product quality and compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine and random inspections and quality tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to verify conformance to specifications, drawings, and standards.
  • Conduct visual, dimensional, functional, and/or laboratory tests using calibrated tools, gauges, scales, microscopes, and other testing equipment.
  • Monitor production processes, equipment, and work areas to ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP (if applicable), ISO standards, FDA/USDA regulations, or other relevant quality systems.
  • Document inspection results, test data, and non-conformances accurately in quality records, logs, and electronic systems.
  • Identify, segregate, and report defective or non-conforming materials/products; initiate corrective actions or quarantine procedures as needed.
  • Calibrate and maintain testing and measuring equipment according to schedule and procedures.
  • Assist in the development, review, and revision of quality procedures, work instructions, checklists, and forms.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and participating as needed.
  • Train new employees or production staff on quality standards and inspection techniques when required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the QA lab and inspection areas.
  • Communicate quality issues promptly to supervisors, production teams, and management.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in quality assurance, manufacturing, food science, biology, chemistry, or a related field preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, inspection, or a related manufacturing/production environment in food industry.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) for data entry and reporting a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent observational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and interacting with team members.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, and work in varying temperatures.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
